Water Pumping Program
Project Objectives
- To provideĀ water pumping equipment on a rental basis, to allow farmers and ranchers to pump water to supplement their dugout water supplies.
Progress and Comments
- Inital program was managed by PRFA (Ag & AgrifoodCanada)
- Program accessed 44 times between 2001 & 2003
- Program operates from spring breakup to freeze up
- In fall 2011 Forage Assoc. purchased in Ag Canada auction: 3 trailers each loaded with pipe and pumps
- Forage Assoc. is working to have 2 functional systems: one in North Peace & one in South Peace.
Commitments and Next Steps
- Program is advertised through Forage Association Newsletters & on website
- rental agreements & damage deposits: directors are currently developing new agreement so that equipment can continue to be available to members
- new arrangements need to be setup as PFRA (Ag & Agrifood Canada )is no longer available to coordinate rental agreements and movement of equiment and repairs. Forage Assoc. has taken responsibility for the project.
